  • Fundamentals of LED Lighting  |  Level: Basic
    June 25-27  |  August 13-15  |  November 5-7
    Our most popular course designed for newcomers to the lighting industry, Fundamentals of Lighting always attracts a diverse group of aspiring lighting professionals. Through lectures, fullscale lighting demonstrations and workshops, participants are taught basic lighting concepts and definitions; they learn to identify and compare major lighting solutions and where they can be used in a variety of applications; they will design basic lighting layouts, and learn how to calculate economic and environmental benefits of lighting upgrades. Specific application modules cover retail and hospitality, office and commercial, industrial and warehouse, and outdoor area lighting.

  • Intermediate Lighting  |  Level: Intermediate
    July 16-17  |  December 3-4
    Intermediate Lighting is offered as a continuation of the Fundamentals of Lighting course. The agenda includes some new topics of interest to lighting practitioners as well as more in-depth coverage of topics introduced in the Fundamentals class. This course will advance people along to the path to becoming “lighting experts” with particular emphasis on knowledge required to excel in this new world of LEDs and connectivity. Advanced topics in color metrics particularly relevant to LEDs will be discussed including an examination of the insufficiency of CRI and attempts to fill the gap with measures like R9, Gamut Area and CQS (Color Quality Scale). Photometric measures will be examined in more detail and consideration given to factors involved in selecting the right luminaire for retrofit applications and new construction. Other topics will include lighting control strategies and an introduction to “intelligent environments.”
    Pre-requisite: Completion of the Fundamentals of LED Lighting class or equivalent.

  • LC Exam Preparation  |  Level: Intermediate / Advanced
    September 27  |  October 11  |  October 25
    A series of three, one-hour webinars will be presented to provide a technical foundation for students sitting for the LC exam. While the LC exam covers a much broader list of subjects than being presented here, these webinars are being offered to provide a foundation upon which additional required topics can be explored and mastered. The NCQLP web site provides the “Candidate Handbook”, which can be down loaded, and should be studied to understand the breath, depth and makeup of the exam. https://www.ncqlp.org/NCQLP_Handbook.pdf. Attendance of this webinar series does not guarantee passing the exam.
